Man City fans react to Kaden Braithwaite performance against Watford after surprise debut

Manchester City are through to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup after defeating Watford 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City returned to winning ways after drawing with Inter in the Champions League and Arsenal in the Premier League over the weekend.

Pep Guardiola made many changes to the team that started against Arsenal.

Only Jeremy Doku preserved his spot against Arsenal, with Pep giving Nico O’Reilly, James McAtee, and Matheus Nunes their first starts of the season.

Pep also made a surprising debut for 16-year-old Kaden Braithwaite.

Braithwaite had practiced with the first team in preparation for the game, but his presence in the starting lineup surprised many supporters.

He made his full debut as City’s third-youngest player, playing on the left flank of defence with John Stones and Kyle Walker.

In the first half, Braithwaite seemed at ease on the ball as he worked his way into the game.

The prodigy seemed extremely comfortable in possession and frequently moved forward, as City supporters have seen Josko Gvardiol do on a regular basis.

Watford lacked an offensive threat, but Kwadwo Baah rushed forward and tackled Braithwaite.

He shot at the far post but was judged to have fouled Braithwaite, who was relieved.

Watford attempted to assault down his side when they couldn’t, but the kid was well prepared.

Braithwaite had a calmer second half and was not bothered much, maintaining his position in City’s back line. He made his way to the finish despite experiencing a cramp, before Watford scored via Tom Ince.

According to Sofascore, he received 62/65 (95%) passes, which would undoubtedly satisfy Pep. He also won 3 of 5 duels.

Braithwaite just had one training session yesterday before starting tonight’s match against Watford.

The child allegedly pleased everyone, thus Pep chose him over Gvardiol, Manuel Akanji, and Ruben Dias.

With Nathan Ake still out injured, this was a significant chance for Braithwaite.

It remains to be seen whether further opportunities will come his way, but fans were largely thrilled with the adolescent despite his young age.

Braithwaite can hold his head up.

So Braithwaite has become one of Manchester City’s youngest players ever, and he can be proud of his debut.

There were a few wobbly moments in the first half, which was to be expected.

Overall, he performed well and improved as the tournament progressed. His usage of the ball was excellent.

It remains to be seen if he will make any more first-team appearances this season. But if anything, this will fuel his desire to move on.

He made his first-team debut at such a young age, and he will be motivated to work hard in the future to make more appearances.
