‘He’s a nightmare’: The one Celtic player Flakirk’s Coll Donaldson said he really couldn’t face playing

Celtic’s League Cup success against Falkirk is still being spoken about this week, as Brendan Rodgers’ side prepares for another trip to Hampden in November.

Celtic’s 5-2 triumph was hard-fought, and the manager accepts full responsibility for the underwhelming effort of the home team.

Rodgers made eight changes to the Celtic lineup that overcame Slovan Bratislava just four days ago, and it showed.

Falkirk played a strong attacking and pressing game, but Celtic’s skill was evident after Rodgers made four substitutions in the 70th minute.

All four substitutions made an immediate impact, but Falkirk captain Coll Donaldson was relieved that one player was not called upon by the Celtic manager.

The ‘nightmare’ that is Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi

Rodgers relied upon Arne Engels, Nicolas Kuhn, Hyunjun Yang, and Greg Taylor to help Celtic overcome a 2-1 deficit.

Despite the disastrous impact of the adjustments, Donaldson was relieved that Celtic manager did not include Kyogo Furuhashi.

Donaldson stated on The Big Scottish Football Podcast that Kyogo was still warming up. So Kyogo was the one to whom I said, “Oh please, don’t bring him on.”

“Like he’s a nightmare, Kyogo, rapid, like a good finisher.”

Celtic's Japanese midfielder #08 Kyogo Furuhashi (L) celebrates with Celtic's Japanese striker #38 Daizen Maeda after scoring his teams second goal...

This afternoon, 67 Hail Hail explored Kyogo’s shifting role at the club, as Adam Idah acknowledged to learning from the Japanese attacker.

Kyogo’s experience in Europe with Celtic, as well as his domestic trophy wins and international caps, making him the ideal player to learn from, but as Donaldson points out, his pace and finishing are the opposition’s undoing.

At 29, the Japanese striker’s expertise was unnecessary against Falkirk on Sunday, but it is heartening that in his absence, Celtic have a striker in Idah who is more than capable of carrying the goalscoring burden.
