Brentford and Nottingham Forest with chance to sign Assane Diao in January

Brentford and Nottingham Forest with a chance to sign Assane Diao in January.

The story in Spain when Brentford was first mentioned as a potential suitor for Assane Diaio claimed that Real Betis was holding out for a price closer to his €30 million clause, while the Premier League team was ready to offer €20–25 million.

Since then, Brentford and Nottingham Forest have reportedly expressed interest, according to Estadio Deportivo. That was during the January 2024 window.

Remarkably, Ramón Planes, the sporting director of Real Betis, was cited at the time as saying: “We are very happy with his emergence.” Recall that Betis participated in the youth cup final the previous year. Assane was on that team, and we are thrilled that he is on the first team in keeping with that youth mentality.

Ever since, the winger’s fame has diminished. In fact, he mostly became a bench player last season, starting in February. The 19-year-old has played 80 minutes in La Liga so far this season.

According to Estadio Deportivo, he may go in January; Brentford and Nottingham Forest have expressed interest.

Villarreal, FC Porto, Feyenoord, RB Leipzig, and Getafe are all rumoured to be interested.

Planes dismissed him a few days before he travelled for Saudi Arabia, and Nottingham Forest or Brentford could get him right now for a lot less.
