“What we’ve been missing” – West Brom verdict on €3m deal

“What we’ve been missing” – West Brom verdict on €3m deal.

This post is part of Football League World’s ‘Terrace Talk’ series, which features personal comments from FLW Fan Pundits on breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings, and more.

Isaac Price is starting to find his feet at West Bromwich Albion.

The 21-year-old, who joined from Belgian club Standard Liege for €3 million in January, has started three of the previous four games and provided his first Baggies assist last Saturday against Oxford United, setting up Alex Mowatt’s opener. After spending a season and a half in the Belgian top league, many Albion fans anticipated a learning curve as the Northern Ireland international adjusted to the pace of the English game.

Games 63
Goals 1

He appears to be demonstrating that a starring role in a play-off chasing side isn’t too large for him, and it’s becoming increasingly evident that the Price is correct for West Brom.

Isaac Price is who West Brom have been missing

We asked FLW’s West Brom fan pundit, Callum Burgess, what he thought of new acquisition Isaac Price so far in an Albion shirt. Callum was quick to praise him, saying, “From his first appearance against Portsmouth, you could tell Isaac Price had a lot of talent with the ball at his feet.” “While there may be some inconsistencies as he re-adjusts to English football, his skill on the ball is there, as evidenced by Albion’s opening against Oxford on Saturday. “We’ve been missing someone with that great final ball this season, and possibly the previous season. He’s certainly someone who supporters are enthused about.”

Price is a sign of good January business which can give West Brom play-off confidence

Callum believes that the relatively low charge for removing Price from Standard Liege will result in a “great bit of business”. “He’s got a great set-piece delivery which will get him loads of assists as an Albion player, and I think he can get better and better by playing him week in, week out,” the midfielder stated. Price wasn’t the only January addition to contribute to the goals against Oxford United, as Tammer Bany came in late to assist John Swift in putting the game out of reach. Along with the loan additions of Adam Armstrong and Will Lankshear, West Brom have been merciless in the recent January transfer window, hoping to seal a spot in the play-offs for the second consecutive season.

And at just 21 years old, the arrival of Price looks to be one which West Brom fans will look to see real improvement from and, if his first month in an Albion shirt is anything to go by, it looks promising for Price at the Hawthorns.
