Following Liverpol’s 2-2 draw with Aston Villa, Arne Slot criticized Darwin Nunez. He has since clarified his remarks and disclosed that the striker is already making reparations.
Nunez’s unwavering work ethic has earned him the complete support of Anfield supporters, despite the fact that his finishing has frequently disappointed.
However, coach Slot felt this was absent against Aston Villa, saying he couldn’t “accept his behaviour” after losing a huge opportunity.
For Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Man City, the Uruguayan was then benched and didn’t even enter the game as a substitute.
Nunez has subsequently displayed encouraging training results, though, and Slot told reporters, including the Liverpool Echo, on Tuesday that “he was still a bit disappointed the day after (Villa).”
However, in terms of work rate, he performed admirably during the training session yesterday. Hopefully, he can keep doing this, and whenever the team needs him, he will be ready if he continues to put in sessions like he did yesterday.”
As part of his comments after drawing against Villa, Slot hinted to having a conversation with his No. 9, something he has now delved deeper into.
The head coach clarified, “I first helped him by telling him that you can miss a chance.” “I wasn’t only harsh with him.
However, I wasn’t pleased with his work effort against Villa and Wolves for the second consecutive game.
