West Brom’s Championship rivals Cardiff City parted company with Erol Bulut last week, making him the third managerial casualty of the season.
After just one game of the season, Ryan Lowe left Preston North End, and Stoke City decided to split ways with Steven Schumacher earlier this month. After being appointed, Narcis Pelach watched the Potters lose 3-1 even though they were ahead at the interval.
The Spaniard is making his mark in the Midlands, but if Leeds United and Southampton decide to part ways with Daniel Farke or Russell Martin, there have been suggestions that they are considering a transfer for Corberan. His club currently leads the championship, and he was able to add players to the lineup this summer with money after he patiently waited.
Even though it’s early, West Brom should be considered a strong contender for automatic promotion given their current position. The season before, he guided the squad to fifth place. Nonetheless, considering Corberan is under contract through the summer of 2027 and is rumoured to have a release clause, Baggies supporters shouldn’t worry about him leaving.
Though promotion will be the aim this season, Corberan and the fans will hope he becomes one of the longest-serving Premier League managers. The 41-year-old is still a fair few years away from being the longest-serving Championship manager.
When it comes to who is leading the charts, Mark Robins is at the top as he nears eight years in command of the Sky Blues. Paul Warne of Derby County is the second-longest serving player, but he has been with the team for more than five years longer than Robins.
With just one day to go until taking over as temporary manager in place of Erol Bulut on Sunday, Omer Riza has managed the Championship for the fewest days. It’s interesting to note that, out of all the division managers, only Paul Warne and Mark Robins have held their positions for longer than two years, but several more are getting close to that mark.
