
Adam Le Fondre and Brian McDermott react to significant Reading FC takeover update
It’s no secret that because of the numerous problems under Dai Yongge, Royals supporters have been calling for a change in ownership.
In the last few years, the club has experienced wage payment issues, point deductions, and Yongge has unable to secure a deal to sell the League One team, despite a lot of apparent interest.
Fans shouldn’t get ahead of themselves, but there was some good news when it was announced that Robert Platek, an American investor with ties to prominent American billionaire Michael Dell, had been given a window of opportunity to try to purchase Reading.
Even if the fans will exercise caution until it is signed and sealed, this has, of course, been well received by them.
The 61-year-old does, however, appear to be the perfect owner because he has football knowledge and will provide the money the team needs to succeed.
Everyone associated with the club will be hoping for an announcement as soon as possible, but it will be interesting to watch how this develops in the coming weeks.
Former manager McDermott and striker Le Fondre were also among those who responded to the takeover announcement.
Le Fondre, who currently plays for FC United of Manchester in the non-league, replied to the news of Platek’s interest on social media with the simple words, “great, fingers crossed.
