Valerien Ismael was ‘immediately removed’ off the list for his first job since Watford, and the reasons seemed strange.

Valerien Ismael has held 10 management jobs over his coaching career, the most recent being at Watford.

He lasted only a brief time with the Hornets, who are not known for their management stability, and has been unemployed ever since.

Ismael’s status as a free agent makes him easily accessible for fresh opportunities, and Schalke has lately expressed an interest in him.

According to Thuringer Allgemeine, Ismael has emerged as a potential candidate for the future Schalke manager amid uncertainty.

Karel Geraerts has been fired, and it is alleged that former Watford manager Ismael was ‘immediately withdrawn’ from the German club’s shortlist. That’s because, curiously enough, he said he wasn’t accessible.

That seems strange given that he is unemployed and was fired from Watford in March. The publication does not specify why Ismael is not available, but one possible explanation is because he still has a contract with Watford, which will affect his remuneration if he takes over at Scahlke.

Another explanation might be that he witnessed the drama at Schalke in recent years, informed them that he was unavailable, and swiftly banned the phone lines of everyone linked with the German club.
