Madison has a lot of work ahead of him this season, which should work in the Spurs’ advantage. Spurs’ attacks rely heavily on his pressing style and deft ball movement to create space.

Compared to his start to the previous season, when he was among the league’s best players before his form dramatically soured, Maddison’s start to this season has been inconsistent.

Maddison made 30 appearances overall in the previous season, contributing nine assists and four goals scored.

The England international has played in six games this season and has one goal and two assists.

Madisson’s deal with Spurs is worth £170,000 per week and is valid until June 2028.

Maddison embodying Tottenham

Maddison’s inconsistent start to the year is indicative of Tottenham’s overall performance. Though considering the expectations placed on them—with Tottenham in Ange Postecoglou’s second season and Maddison being their big summer acquisition—things are not as dire for either of them as the story may imply. Nevertheless, the commotion will never truly go away.

But Maddison will have enough time on the pitch to surpass his stats from the previous campaign, especially with the extended Europa League approaching, provided the first team stays healthy.
