JUST IN: Wolves 4-1 Leeds in the U21 report

The Wolves under-21 team defeated Leeds United handily at Aggborough to record their first Premier League 2 triumph of the year. On a strong night for the youth, James Collins’ team scored four goals, with Caden Voice, Dani Angel, Fletcher Holman, and Tom Edozie all finding the net. Wolves got out to a bright and aggressive start, but the visitors had the first opportunity on goal when Lewys Benjamin was forced to make a save to his left and Joseph Richards sent the rebound into the side net.

The Old Gold then required just ten minutes to take the lead, and Voice, the defender, was in a prime position to make a play. Voice was prepared and preparing to respond with a forceful attempt that Rory Mahady was unable to stop when Angel’s swivel and shot was stopped. Collins’ team attempted to build on the lead after the first goal, and after a well-executed move to the left, Ethan Sutherland made a strong run at goal but Mahady denied him. In the first ten minutes of the second half, Wolves had a fantastic chance to add a third.

Then, Edozie got in on the action with number four as Holman nearly doubled his total for the evening, forcing Mahady into a fantastic save to claw the ball out of the top corner. Once more, it was Lopes who skillfully used the outside of his boot to get the through ball. Edozie then wrapped around Mahady and finished into an open goal to seal the points.

UPCOMING: At the SEAH Stadium on Thursday night, the Wolves under-21 team takes on Monaco in their first Premier League International Cup match of the year.
