‘He’s ours’ – Southampton boss goes on defensive after star linked with Newcastle United & Manchester United

Russell Martin, the manager of Southampton, has stated that the Saints have turned down offers for young player Tyler Dibling, despite rumors that the England Under-19 standout would be joining Newcastle United.

The 18-year-old has been on the Magpies’ radar for a few years and has previously proven his mettle at St James Park, when he easily defeated the Saints Under-21s 4-2 in April 2022 by scoring a breathtaking hat-trick past Mark Gillespie. A player who was expected to excel at the top level was signed by Chelsea the following summer, despite rumors of a move to Tyneside. However, Dibling’s time at Stamford Bridge was brief, as he returned to Southampton after just three months.

Dibling’s development was recognized with his first senior appearance in August of last year when he entered the game as a late substitute in a Carabao Cup loss at Gillingham. In January, he made his league debut by taking the place of Ryan Fraser, a former Newcastle winger, in a 4-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday. Dibling made his Premier League debut off the bench in the opening day loss at Newcastle last month, capping up a strong preseason campaign. A day later, in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town, he scored his first goal as a professional.
