“Too many touches” – Georginio Rutter verdict sounds familiar to Leeds United after another blank

Georginio Rutter moved from Leeds United to Brighton for £40 million, but is yet to make an impact.

The Whites had to rebuild dramatically after losing the playoff final in May, with three key players leaving due to contract release clauses.

Georginio Rutter, the third player, signed a £40 million agreement to join Brighton for a second opportunity in the Premier League.

Rutter yet to get off the mark since leaving Leeds for Brighton

The Frenchman’s four Premier League appearances have yet to deliver any results under Fabian Hurzeler.c

He has played 157 minutes so far, starting his previous two games against Ipswich Town and Nottingham Forest, which resulted in the club’s third and fourth draws of the season, both at home.

A start against Forest resulted in another blank for the £40 million man, despite a furious finish that saw both managers sent off after Morgan Gibbs-White received a second yellow card, with the score finishing 2-2.

Sussex World’s review of the game did not commend Rutter, who shown identical traits in this game as he had in previous uninteresting Leeds games.

He showed some quality in possession to feed teammates, but he was also highly wasteful with the ball at his feet, earning a 6/10.

“In a fluid stretch of play in the ninth minute, Rutter threaded a great pass for Simon Adingra, who placed a threatening ball into the box. At the start of the second half, he was given the opportunity to shoot from the edge of the box. He took too many touches and squandered the opportunity.

Rutter getting mixed reviews from Brighton thus far

His performance versus Forest appeared to be ‘OK’ without being particularly outstanding, which is to be expected of him.

He’s gone from being one of the league’s finest players and Leeds’ most important creator to joining a team where he’s no longer the main attraction.

That anticipation will result in a lot of underwhelming replies from him drawing a blank, but he’ll have plenty of those in the top flight.

However, he will also have games when he is completely fascinating, which is why you spend so much money.
