Weeks after joining Valencia from Aston Villa, Enzo Barrenechea’s affection for the club becomes stronger.

Well, the Aston Villa player started for Valencia over the weekend, and they defeated Girona 2-0. All the more amazing given that Girona finished third last season, dragging Enzo’s team from last position.

That came at a personal cost, however.

Barrenechea ‘limped off the Mestalla ground’ after slightly over an hour, according to Mundo Deportivo. He’d exerted himself so hard that cramps had limited his movement.

According to Mundo Deportivo, as he walked out, the Mestalla fans screamed ‘Enzo, Enzo’ to let him know his efforts were appreciated.

Despite limping off, the Aston Villa player is poised to face Osasuna on Tuesday evening.
