League One team of the week features Birmingham City and Bolton Wanderers – as one player scores 9.5/10

The seventh team of the week of the 2024/25 League One season has been named.

Birmingham City is back in the League One team of the week after a comfortable 2-0 win away at Rotherham United on Saturday, keeping the Blues in second place behind Wrexham.

Bolton Wanderers also had a successful week, defeating Reading 5–2 at Toughsheet Community Stadium and earning a spot in this week’s XI. It was a much-needed result, since Bolton had only won one of their previous five games.
Northampton Town, Leyton Orient, Shrewsbury Town, Stockport County, Lincoln City, and Mansfield Town round up the team of the week. The inclusion of the following four teams may surprise you given that none of them won, but individual players rose to the occasion.

GK: Lee Burge (Northampton) – 7.68

Despite conceding one goal, he made three saves and two claims in the Cobblers’ 3-1 away win over Huddersfield Town. An outstanding result.

RB: Luca Hoole (Shrewsbury) – 8.33

 

 

In the Shrews’ 2-1 loss against Mansfield, he assisted on the opening goal in the second minute. Also made a significant clearance off the line.

 

CB: Paudie O’Connor (Lincoln) – 8.00

 

In the Imps’ 0-0 draw with Wigan Athletic, he was a steadfast defender, winning 11 aerial duels and making seven clearances.

 

CB: Jon Guthrie (Northampton) – 7.99

In a dominating effort, he assisted the important third goal and hit the crossbar. The defender won eight aerial duels and made nine clearances.

LB: Tayo Adaramola (Stockport), 7.45

 

He was the standout in Stockport’s 4-1 loss to Leyton Orient, completing five dribbles, winning two tackles, and taking two efforts on goal.

RM: Josh Dacres-Cogley (Bolton) – 7.93

In Bolton’s 5-2 victory over Reading, he assisted on the game’s third goal and made two tackles and two interceptions.

CM Tomoki Iwata (Birmingham) – 7.85

Another good performance in the middle of midfield, with one goal and three opportunities created in the 2-0 victory over Rotherham. The Japanese are adjusting to life at Blues admirably.

CM: Ethan Galbraith (Leyton Orient) – 8.65
Orient won 4-1 away at Stockport, with two goals from midfield. Also, a teammate was given a significant opportunity.

LM: Tariqe Fosu-Henry (Northampton), 8.20

 

As the Cobblers’ star player at John Smith’s Stadium, he scored one goal and assisted on another. The threat remained consistent throughout.

 

ST: Dion Charles (Bolton) – 9.51

 

The hat trick hero helped Wanderers defeat Reading in a seven-goal thriller at Toughsheet Community Stadium.

 

ST: Lee Gregory (Mansfield) – 8.13

 

In Mansfield’s 2-1 victory over Shrewsbury, he converted a penalty to tie the game. Defended effectively from the front, winning five aerial duels and four tackles.
