Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris issues 13-word Ian Poveda injury update ahead of Watford clash

Ian Poveda, a summer signing for Sunderland, has sent an injury update via Regis Le Bris.

With five victories in their first six games of the 2024–25 season, Sunderland has made a great start to the season under new manager Regis Le Bris, who has guided them to the top of the table.

There was a great deal of concern about this next season, especially in terms of attack, given how unimpressive and unconfident Sunderland was in the goal last season, scoring just 52 goals throughout the course of the 2023–24 campaign.

But the Black Cats have undoubtedly improved offensively in spite of Jack Clarke’s move to Ipswich Town. They have scored 13 goals in their opening six games, more than any other Championship team has done thus far.

Le Bris now has a wealth of attacking alternatives at his disposal, with players like Patrick Roberts and Romeo Mundle displaying particularly promising qualities. The French manager will certainly have additional options when one of Sunderland’s star players returns.

Ian Poveda of Sunderland is close to returning, according to Regis Le Bris.

Ian Poveda, a Colombian international who played on loan for Sheffield Wednesday for half of the previous season, was recruited by Sunderland after a transfer battle with the Championship team.

Due to fitness concerns, the attacker did not play in the first two games of the Championship season and has only played 17 minutes overall.

But according to Sunderland Echo, Le Bris responded, “I think he will be available for our next training sessions, yes,” when asked about Poveda’s availability.
