Following Sunderland’s defeat to Hull City, Burnley is now the only Championship team with an unblemished home record.
The Black Cats lost 1-0 at the Stadium of Light, putting their automatic promotion chances in jeopardy.
Regis Le Bris’ team is now six points behind Burnley after their 4-0 win against Sheffield Wednesday on Friday night. They are also eight points behind second-placed Sheffield United, who face leaders Leeds United on Monday.
Scott Parker’s team is now the only second-tier team that is yet to lose at home, having won nine of their 17 games at Turf Moor and drawn the other eight. They’ve also only allowed four goals in that period.
Records are falling this season, particularly at the back, where their outstanding defending continues to make headlines.
The Clarets have now maintained 12 consecutive Championship clean sheets, two short of the English all-time record of 14 held by Manchester United in 2008/09.
Parker’s side has also preserved 25 clean sheets this season, matching the current record established by QPR in 2010/11, but they still have 12 games to go to build on that run of shutouts.
The Clarets have also gone 23 games unbeaten, with two of those coming in the FA Cup.
