Aaron Ramsdale will have to improve one thing at Southampton despite ‘impressive’ Ipswich display

Prior to a brutal deflection into Aaron Ramsdale’s top corner in the 95th minute by Sam Morsy, Southampton came agonizingly close to their first Premier League victory of the season. Instead, Russell Martin had to make do with a point against Ipswich Town, another team who had just been promoted, while Southampton at least started the season with a draw at St Mary’s. After just five minutes, 18-year-old phenom Tyler Dibling gave Southampton the lead with his first senior goal. It was the ideal start for the home team.

In his first league start since returning to Southampton this summer, 36-year-old Adam Lallana threaded a superb ball through to Dibling, setting up the goal for the youngster. Cameron Archer missed many excellent opportunities to extend Southampton’s advantage, and it wasn’t until Morsy’s goal that Ipswich’s late pressure paid off.
