Pundit issues audacious comparison judgment between Matt O’Riley and Arne Engels at Celtic

Arne Engels is enjoying a wonderful start to his early Celtic career after his £11m move from Augsburg in the summer. After just three appearances, Engels has scored twice as he displayed his composure from the penalty spot against Hearts and Slovan Bratislava in the Champions League over the last seven days However, the Celtic supporters are impressed by more than simply his goals. The Hoops fans are thrilled with Engels’ all-around performance, which has also prompted Gordon Dalziel to draw comparisons between the Belgian and former Celtic icon Matt O’Riley.

“A better player” than Matt O’Riley is Arne Engels.

Dalziel is obviously very enthusiastic about Celtic’s latest addition, but his quick judgment on Engels is likely to cause some consternation among the Parkhead faithful. “But you talk about Engels, I’m going to say right now from what I’ve seen of him, I’m going to make a big statement,” Dalziel said to Superscoreboard. “I’ll get right to it. I feel a certain way about players. In my opinion, he is superior to Matt O’Riley. “You will concur with me when I tell you this reality right now. From what I’ve seen of him, this guy is filling his locker with everything.

“He’s got off to a terrific start. The confidence he’s got, you’ll see him composed at the penalty kicks. I’m telling you he’s a better player than Matt O’Riley. All day long. “I’m not being disrespectful to Matt O’Riley but I think he’s a better player. I would play him before Matt O’Riley. There you go.”
