Jimmy Johnson makes surprising prediction about Cowboys

Even though the Dallas Cowboys have plenty of time to improve their season and contend for the postseason, one club legend does not think it will happen.

Jimmy Johnson stated during Sunday’s NFL pregame broadcast on FOX that he doesn’t think the Cowboys will win enough of their remaining games to qualify for the playoffs. Despite a 3–4 start to the season, Johnson thinks things will improve for his old squad, but he also says it is now “too late.”

“I believe they improve and turn things around once their best players return to the field, but I believe it’s too late for them to win enough games to qualify for the playoffs,” Johnson stated. “This year, I don’t think they’ll make the playoffs.”

Johnson merely mentioned the team’s improving health and acknowledged that “stranger things have happened” when asked to provide Cowboys supporters something to cheer about.

The Cowboys’ best defensive player, star pass-rusher Micah Parsons, has missed action since Week 4 because of an ankle injury. Due to a foot ailment, starting cornerback DaRon Bland has not yet made his 2024 debut. Both are not expected to play against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

The Cowboys have only faced an NFC East team once, in Week 4 against the New York Giants. This indicates that they still have four games left against the Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles combined. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Cincinnati Bengals will be challenging opponents for them as well.

When the Cowboys were losing badly in the playoffs the previous season, Johnson gave an impassioned address over the air. With this year’s squad, he has adopted a considerably different stance, and there might be a valid explanation.
