Could have been a red’ – King stunned by VAR after Tottenham controversy v Brentford

Bryan King was left baffled as VAR failed to intervene after Tottenham ace Guglielmo Vicario appeared to handle the ball outside the box against Brentford.

The former Spurs scout believes the goalie might have been sent off.
Vicario appeared to handle the ball outside the box midway through the second half as Spurs defeated Brentford 3-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday (September 21).

And King, speaking exclusively to the Tottenham News, doesn’t understand why nothing was done.

“I was surprised by the Vicario incident,” he remarked.

“He came for the cross, but his hands were all wrong, so he proceeded outside the box. His first touch occurred on the line. However, with his third touch, he was a yard outside the penalty area.

“Then the Brentford player gets booked for complaining. However, VAR did little to address the issue. That was handball outside of the box, and nothing was done about it.

“Where were the people from the VAR room?” Had they gone to the restroom? “I couldn’t understand why Brentford didn’t get a free kick.”Vicario would have been booked. However, it was possible that it was a red card, but no action was taken.

Guglielmo Vicario gets away with one for Tottenham v Brentford?

If Vicario had been sent off for his acts, the game could have shifted completely.

Spurs were only 2-1 ahead at that time in the game. Brentford might have battled their way back into the game if the hosts were dropped to ten men.

As a result, Ange Postecoglou and his players will undoubtedly breathe a sigh of relief, as Vicario has once again caused unnecessary tension for his manager.

In other Tottenham news, Postecoglou is expected to have a conversation with one key player after what he did against Brentford.
