Sky Sports analyst Sam Morsy, the captain of Ipswich Town, was the focus of Jamie Redknapp’s attention following
the team’s 1-1 tie with Manchester United.
Last week, the former midfielder for Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur spent time at Playford Road filming
interviews with different Blues players, giving him an inside look at what goes on behind the scenes at the team.
Naturally, Morsy plays a significant role in the culture, but Redknapp was more impressed by his on-field
performance, praising the 51-year-old’s ease in the Premier League.
During Super Sunday, he declared, “I really like Sam Morsy in midfield.”
“It’s clear that he has a little bit of dog in him, and in the best possible way. That’s nice.
He can play, but he also goes and gets tackles. He provides you with precisely the advantage you require.
“You can see why the manager likes and trusts him, even though he plays on the edge.” He appears to be quite at ease
in this league.
“It’s likely that he has watched the Premier League in recent years and asked, ‘Can I manage it? I wonder if I’m good
enough to play when I watch these players. He is more than adequate.
He has, in my opinion, been outstanding. They were very competitive in midfield, but they also had excellent ball
control. Ipswich put on a fairly strong show today, in my opinion.
