Cardiff City 0 Leeds United 2: Largie Ramazani celebrates maiden goal as both clubs pay tribute to Sol Bamba

In a match against Cardiff with 10 men, Leeds came back victorious as both teams honored their former player Sol Bamba.

Largie Ramazani’s day was red-letter since he scored his first goal in English football since joining Leeds in August after leaving Spanish club Almeria.

Replace Three minutes from time, Joel Piroe completed a 2-0 victory after Cardiff goalkeeper Jak Alnwick had saved Pascal Struijk’s second-half penalty.

Seven minutes later, Ramazani scored on his first Leeds start, effectively ending the match for a struggling Cardiff team short in ideas and confidence.

The Bluebirds’ loss drops them to the bottom of the Sky Bet Championship standings with only one point, and with their fifth loss in six league games, there will undoubtedly be further talk about manager Erol Bulut’s future.

Popular throughout stints at Leeds and Cardiff, Bamba passed away last month at the age of 39 while serving as Turkish club Adanaspor’s technical director.

Before the game began, friends, family, and representatives from both teams lay wreaths on the center circle as a way for the supporters to honor him.

Bamba’s former Cardiff boss Neil Warnock, who helped the Ivory Coast international win promotion to the Premier League in 2018, was among those present when a banner in his honor was hoisted behind the Canton Stand goal.

Before Bagan was dismissed, Leeds easily defeated this location 3-0 in January, and Daniel Farke’s team seemed eager to play here again.

After Ilia Gruev missed two shots, and the crowd stood to cheer Bamba on minute 14, which was his Cardiff shirt number, the game took a dramatic turn.

Bagan cut off Gnonto’s momentum, and referee Josh Smith decided that the challenge that left no one covering the player deserved a red card.

Alnwick deflected a free kick from Brenden Aaronson. However, the respite was fleeting, as Leeds took the lead before the halfway point.

Ramazani was slid in by Mateo Joseph, and the Belgium Under-21 international finished coolly to make no mistakes.

Although Leeds’ goalkeeper, Illan Meslier, was foiled by a low free kick from Rubin Colwill, the visitors ought to have extended their lead by halftime.
