The former Celtic star makes a bold eight-word Birmingham City statement as he thinks about nothing but a clear goal.

Tomoki Iwata is adamant that in order to lead Birmingham City back to the Premier League, he has traded Celtic for the team.

Now that he is with the League One team, he has a clear objective. Without any other thoughts, the midfielder wants to lead Birmingham City back to the Premier League and watch them play on the grandest stage in English football.

“Only one thing, promotion to the Premier League,” was Iwata’s assured response when questioned about his goals.

This is the reason I came here, he said. I have a deep affection for Birmingham, so I will give the Blues everything I have. I’ll do every effort to help the squad succeed. My only thought right now is visiting the Premier League.

Iwata left J League team Yokohama F. Marinos to join Celtic in 2023, initially on loan. It was changed.
