Graham Alexander praises a Bradford City player as they prepare for a match against MK Dons.

Graham Alexander, the manager of Bradford City, stated earlier this week that he thought Jamie Walker was “excellent” against Birmingham City.

This Saturday, Bradford City will play their first League Two match at home against MK Dons. With Notts County, Port Vale, and Crewe Alexandra in the playoffs, BCAFC is in fifth place in the standings.

This season, Walker, 31, has made 31 appearances in all competitions. He has contributed three assists and one goal.

According to The Yorkshire Post, Alexander stated: “I thought he was excellent on Tuesday night in that role.” He has the qualities, in my opinion, to play up front for our squad.

I do not categorize players. I try to find out what they have and what the team needs. Jamie Walker was the goal threat we needed as a nine and someone who could connect the play. For me, the major benefit was physical.

Although he hasn’t played many games lately, his data was excellent. He deserves all the praise. He possesses a quality that we are unable to teach. He has a natural feel for creating opportunities and working toward goals.

Walker will become a free agent in late June once his contract with Bradford City expires at the end of current season.

The Bantams have a decision to make regarding his long-term future at Valley Parade.

In 2022, he made his first loan move to the West Yorkshire club, which was eventually extended to a permanent position. Since then, Walker has participated in 113 games overall, contributing 10 assists and 19 goals.

The former Scotland youth international is a Hearts academy graduate who debuted into the main team as a youngster following a loan spell at Raith Rovers.

Wigan Athletic attracted him down the border in 2018, but his spell at the DW Stadium did not go as planned, and he was loaned out to Peterborough United.

After a few years with Hearts, he returned to England with Bradford City. The Edinburgh-born man currently gives the Bantams with additional competitiveness and depth in their roster.
