Newcastle United players and legends match worn shirts to go up for auction

Over 1,000 lots will be auctioned off next month

Newcastle United fans will have the chance to get their hands on some match worn shirts from current players and legends of the club next month.

Sporting memorabilia auction house, Graham Budd Auctions will be auctioning off nearly 100 years worth of match-worn and issued shirts. Current star striker Alexander Isak’s match worn shirt from their 2-1 away victory over Tottenham Hotspur at the start of January is one of the many items going up for auction. The Swedish international also scored the winning goal in the game.

The match worn shirts will be going to auction on March 3, with over 1,000 lots being auctioned off in total. Another shirt going on sale being George Robledo’s legendary 1952 FA Cup Final shirt.

A spokesperson for Graham Budd Auction’s said: “Newcastle United fans live and breathe football – and the city holds Chilean football legend George Robledo close to its heart. The player’s FA Cup Final shirt is a rare chance for fans to get their hands on an iconic piece of Newcastle history. In fact, with over 1,000 lots in total, Newcastle fans on any budget – from under £100 to several thousand – will be able to find something special.

“We have almost 100 years of match worn/issued Newcastle United shirts in our upcoming March four-day auction from 1927-28 to 2024-25. The earliest match worn shirt from Robert Clark, 1927-28 (Lot 598) Est £3,500-5,500, George Robledo’s 1952 F.A. Cup Final match worn (Lot 597) Est £7,000-10,000, with George scoring the cup winning goal.

“We also have Stewart Barrowclough‘s match issued 1976 League Cup Final (Lot 599) Est £2,500-3,500. Terry McDermott 1983 shirt (Lot 600) Est £1,000-1,500 and Alexander Isak match worn v. Spurs, 4th January 2025, (Lot 601) Est £250-350, with Isak scoring the winning goal.”
