£25m player dropped, Ian Maatsen starts: Predicted Aston Villa XI, team & injury news vs Wolves

Aston Villa predicted XI, team and injury news as Unai Emery drops £25m player vs Wolves.

In an attempt to maintain their winning streak, Aston Villa takes on Wolves in the Premier League on Saturday.

With three wins out of four in the league and a 3-0 victory over Young Boys to kick off their Champions League comeback, Aston Villa’s season is off to a great start.

Now, in the West Midlands derby, Unai Emery’s team faces a struggling Wolves team, who have only managed one point from their first three games under Gary O’Neil.

While Wolves will be eager to cause an upset at Villa Park, Villa will be looking to win this game as a must-win in their quest for another top four finish.

While Chris Sutton concurs with Paul Merson that Aston Villa will defeat Wolves this weekend, he also knows that Emery shouldn’t underestimate his opponents.

Aston Villa team news vs Wolves

Following their victory over Young Boys in the middle of the week, Villa had no new injury concerns, and the Spaniard gave an update prior to the match on Saturday.

Ollie Watkins was seen icing his ankle during the game at the Wankdorf Stadium, but Emery said on Friday that Watkins is fully fit despite having some “problems.”

“He is fully available to participate. Like other players, he had some issues, but they weren’t important. He’s now 100% ready to play tomorrow,” Emery stated.

Tyrone Mings is now regularly training with the first team as he moves closer to being included in the squad, the Aston Villa tactician also disclosed.

Boubacar Kamara, a midfielder, has been sidelined since he suffered an ACL injury during the team’s loss to Manchester United in February. Emery has confirmed that Kamara has been training daily since last week.

Aston Villa predicted XI vs Wolves

When the Argentine takes on his old team on Saturday, Emi Martinez is unquestionably the first name on the roster at Aston Villa.

Two changes to the back four are possible as Lucas Digne, who has performed well this season, is replaced by Ian Maatsen, making his home debut.

Digne did, however, play 90 minutes on Tuesday, and Emery may use this as a chance to rest the £25 million player and give Maatsen his first competitive start.

Regarding the other members of the defense, Ezri Konsa will move to right back, Diego Carlos will partner Pau Torres, and Lamare Bogarde may withdraw after struggling against Young Boys.

Youri Tielemans, the Man of the Match from the win in midweek, is blossoming into one of Villa’s most crucial players alongside Belgium teammate Amadou Onana.

Although Leon Bailey returned to the squad against Young Boys following injury, the Jamaican could remain on the bench with Jacob Ramsey impressing.

Ramsey will continue alongside John McGinn, Morgan Rogers and Ollie Watkins – even if Emery did say Jhon Duran was ‘close’ to starting.
