Bolton Wanderers fan Alex Murphy ready for latest fight
Alex Murphy hopes to make 2025 a big year in his career and is eager to kick it off with a win against Rajesh Kumar on Friday night.
The 23-year-old has won all 12 of his professional fights to date, but he believes his current battle is a “step up” against an opponent who has 16 victories, including seven knockouts.
“I am feeling really good,” he told the Bolton News. “Training has gone well, and we expect a tough fight.
“It’s a tough opponent and a significant step up, but I believe I’m prepared for it right now. “I am excited to take on this challenge.” I believe that the better my opponent, the better I will be. I guess I’m just a lot more switched on when I know I’m in there with someone who is both good and scary; it just elevates me.
“I am delighted the opponents are moving up, and perhaps everyone will see the best from me as well.
“I only fought twice in 2024, so it wasn’t as active as some of the others. But in the conclusion of that, I did my first eight-rounder versus Dan Booth and won every round, so it was a fantastic way to close the year.
“But it’s only because I stayed in the gym all year, even if I wasn’t competing on a regular basis. I stayed in the gym, honing my trade, remained disciplined, and delivered my greatest performance at the end of the year, so the hard work paid off.”
