New Stoke City boss was wanted in Premier League

Narcis Pelach will take charge of his first Stoke match tonight

Two Premier League clubs attempted to entice Narcis Pelach into their coaching staffs this summer, according to Jon Walters, who takes charge of Stoke City’s opening game.

Pelach has had opportunity to work in a variety of positions while developing his reputation under David Wagner and Carlos Corberan at Norwich and Huddersfield, but it is fair to say that many Stoke fans were unfamiliar with his name prior to Monday morning.
Walters, on the other hand, had done his homework to locate someone who met the correct description as the first head coach he had appointed as Stoke’s sporting director.
Walters stated, “I’ve known about Narcis for a long time; he’ll probably be astonished how long. I’ve known him since Girona, and I’ve heard great things about him from guys like Bojan and Muni, to name a few. Then he came over and followed Pep and Bielsa for a bit, before Corberan took him to Huddersfield and worked with various coaches there. I understand what players say about him there and at Norwich, how he demands things and incorporates identity into his coaching setup.

“According to other sources outside the game, two Premier League clubs attempted to sign him as a number two in the summer, and I know managers at European clubs, including major European clubs, wanted to sign him. I know a lot about him. It’s an intriguing young head coach who speaks well but needs to back it up on the field and offer something exciting for us.”

Pelach will be on the sidelines tonight at the bet365 Stadium as Stoke face Hull in the Championship.
