Triple Leeds United injury boost as Daniel Farke ‘concerns’ spotted in training ahead of Cardiff City clash

Four new injury concerns were listed by Daniel Farke in his press conference prior to the game.

A recent training video featuring Junior Firpo, Joe Rothwell, and Manor Solomon of Leeds United was released despite continued concerns over their health for Saturday’s away match against Cardiff City.

On Thursday, Daniel Farke verified that all three players had been handling concerns throughout the week. Firpo reported discomfort in his knee’s medial collateral ligament, while Rothwell reported rolling his ankle. The manager of on-loan winger Solomon called him the “biggest question mark” because of a back problem.

Farke expressed optimism that the previously mentioned problems may be resolved by the weekend, and the fact that all three were featured in a training video that was posted on Thursday night seems to support this. Firpo, Rothwell, and Solomon are all fully engaged in first-team, full contact fitness and possession drills; it’s unclear precisely which day the session was videotaped.

Joe Rodon, who was Farke’s fourth new concern on Thursday, is one prominent absence. The only player who was officially ruled out of two practices this week—one of which appears to have been recorded and circulated online—was the Welsh defender, who is having problems with his gluteal muscles.

Like Solomon, Rothwell, and Firpo, Farke maintained that he was “cautiously optimistic.” It appears that late decisions will be made on all four as Rodon is expected to be healthy to play against Cardiff. Prior to Saturday, Israeli international Solomon is anticipated to be the greatest question mark.

In other parts of the video, Patrick Bamford is completely engaged as he continues to regain his fitness after missing a significant amount of time during the summer and a minor setback earlier in the campaign. Leeds is eager to avoid pushing the 31-year-old back and is content to continue playing Mateo Joseph up front. He returned to training last week, but he isn’t expected to start just yet.

Max Wober did not participate in the videotaped session, but he returned to training on Thursday following his absence from the Burnley loss due to a knee injury. Although the Austrian had participated in a “light session,” Farke did mention that he was unlikely to have participated in full first-team drills. His availability will be decided after the fact.

The other player missing is Dan James, who experienced a setback in his recuperation from a hamstring injury prior to the Burnley game. James will undoubtedly miss Saturday’s trip to Cardiff. It is anticipated that the Welshman won’t return until the October international break.
