Cammy Devlin Hearts concussion latest as Yan Dhanda absence explained
Perhaps they overlooked Cammy Devlin’s bite and ferocity in midfield.
The Australian had to miss the match against the Ibrox team after sustaining a concussion during the Scottish Cup penalties victory against St Mirren.
Although Neil Critchley had hoped that Devlin would be available, the club stayed safe because, as is always the case with concussions, the procedures were followed.
During the January transfer window, Critchley expressed his desire to keep the 26-year-old at Hearts, where he has been a vital player this season.
Following a “unacceptable” disclosure of information on a purported release clause in Devlin’s contract, the manager became enraged.
He stayed with the Jambos past the winter window, and it is hoped that he will soon return to the team.
While they work through the concussion protocols, Crotchley hopes to have Devlin available to play against St Johnstone on Sunday, much like in the Rangers game.
The midfield player has participated in some light training, but he still needs to complete a few steps to demonstrate his preparedness.
Even though he was a standout player for the team the Englishman was leading, he might now have to fight to return to the starting lineup.
According to Critchley, who spoke to the Edinburgh Evening News, “Everyone played well on Sunday. We’re hoping that Cammy will be free this weekend.
“We expect him to be fine even though he is simply going through the concussion protocol. Later this week, we expect he will return to full training. He’s been undergoing some training. He must perform exercises in the following order: unopposed, semi-opposed, and fully opposed.
One of our best players, Cammy has been essential to our desired style of play. We and the fans both benefit from his enthusiasm on the field due to the way he plays.
He has had a significant impact, so you will miss someone like that. Cammy will now have to struggle to return to the team since, in my opinion, none of the players who played against Rangers, including those who came off the bench, did themselves any harm.
Fans were left wondering why Yan Dhanda was left out of the Jambos team for the matches against Rangers and St. Mirren.
Critchley does not anticipate him to play against St Johnstone since he has a hip flexor issue and will be given time to heal.
