Simon Jordan couldn’t resist a sly dig at David Beckham’s beloved Inter Miami following the England legend’s trip to watch Birmingham City with Tom Brady.
Simon Jordan couldn’t resist a sneaky dig at David Beckham after the former player rated Birmingham City’s St. Andrew’s @ Knighthead
Park as the best atmosphere he’d seen ‘for a long time’.
Beckham was among the prominent guests who attended the Blues’ home game against fellow League One promotion contenders
Wrexham on Monday night. The third-tier encounter was given an extra layer of glamour because both teams have received significant
financial backing from the United States in recent seasons.
Actor Rob McElhenney represented the guests in the stands, while co-owner and fellow actor Ryan Reynolds watched from a distance.
The hosts were joined by members of Knighthead Capital Management, including seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady.
He sat alongside Beckham for the occasion, and one night later he made a surprise appearance on CBS’ coverage of the UEFA Champions
League. He revealed to Thierry Henry, Jamie Carragher, and Micah Richards, “I’ve not seen an atmosphere like that for a long time.”
Unbeknownst to him, this statement would set the stage for a funny remark from talkSPORT analyst Jordan, who responded via X:
“That’s probably true given he’s regularly watching #InterMiami,” accompanied by a winking tongue-out emoji.
Since retirement, the England star has followed in Brady’s footsteps by becoming a club owner in football, also known as’soccer’ in the
United States. After years of planning, his Inter Miami franchise joined the MLS in 2020 and has since grown to become one of the sport’s
most commercially successful teams.
This is due to the fact that they have managed to attract a number of Europe’s former best talents in their latter years, the most notable
being Lionel Messi, followed by his former Barcelona teammates Sergio Busquets, Luis Suarez, and Jordi Alba. Previously, Gonzalo
Higuain and Blaise Matuidi played for the club, and former Lionesses manager Phil Neville served as their coach.
However, the US league will continue to challenge the history and popularity of the English game, possibly even down to Birmingham in
the third tier, with internationally recognized individuals like Brady bringing new attention to a squad hoping to return to the Premier
League one day.
