The outstanding response from Micah Richards and Jamie Carragher after Celtic’s Liam Scales goal in the Champions League

The outstanding response from Micah Richards and Jamie Carragher after Celtic’s Liam Scales goal in the Champions League.

Much was spoken about Celtic’s first-ever encounter with Slovan Bratislava, including the fact that only three points would have been accepted, before the ball was ever played.

Since the team under Brendan Rodgers was healthy and had a lot of players in form, they had no excuses for their perfect start to the new campaign.

After a corner kickoff, Liam Scales was the one to get things rolling. From there, the squad dominated play and easily scored the most points possible.

In the end, Celtic won 5-1, making a strong first impression and proving to everyone that they are a serious contender in the recently changed Champions League format.

CBS Sports employed Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards to do their halftime analysis of every Champions League game.

All the other games remained goalless until Celtic’s second half sprang to life. Sadly, they were the only ones to score.

Richards, Carraher, and Heineken, the sponsors of CBS, were required to select their “Heineken half-time moment,” and as there was just one goal scored, they had to depict Scales’ goal humorously.

They told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (18/09/24 at 8:55 pm) that following the goal, the former Liverpool centre defender remarked that Scales will be “on the ales tonight,” and Richards made a pun-intended joke about the Irishman’s surname.

Carragher stated, “It’s from a set-piece and it’s at Celtic.” “That guy, Liam Scales, is a defender, and he’s going to be on the ales tonight.”

“That man Scales scores a goal,” Richards continued. If Slovan can even things out in the second half, I wonder. There is no rhyme in it. Measures. equilibrium.

Pressure eased off Brendan Rodgers

All that was needed for Rodgers, the players, and the team was a victory and such a performance.

Even though they ought to be winning these kinds of games, you still have to do the task, and they did it in exquisite form.

Although there is still pressure, you get the impression that it has lessened for the better since supporters can now focus on the next rounds of the competition.

In theory, Celtic’s most difficult test is the matchup with Borussia Dortmund in front of the recognisable yellow wall.
