James Wilson breaks silence on Hearts penalty snub against Rangers as starlet rejects one accusation

James Wilson, a key player for Hearts, said that Clinton Nsiala’s shove knocked him off balance during their loss to Rangers, and he later said, “It felt like a penalty.”

Debate raged over whether the Jambos should have got a spot kick when the teenage striker seemed to push Wilson during a contentious period in the game. At that point, the game was evenly balanced at 1-1, and the Gers added salt to their hosts’ wounds by going up the park to get back on top through Vaclav Cerny.

Neil McCann, who played for both teams, thought Hearts had a strong claim for a spot kick while co-commentating on Sky Sports. However, the three-person panel consisting of James McFadden, Kris Boyd, and Chris Sutton rejected the shout. Of the two participants in the incident, Wilson is now the first to speak.

“No, I haven’t,” Wilson said, dismissing any suggestion that he fabricated the fall in an attempt to receive a penalty. I’ve never attempted that. It’s really knocked me off balance. That’s football, even though it’s annoying. Decisions will be made against you, so you must make an effort to recover.

That was certainly the most disappointing aspect of our performance, in my opinion. We most likely simply lacked the will to continue the game once it was 3-1. We had opportunities, but I believe the belief faltered a little.
