The star of Birmingham City With Norwich City and Stoke City among the teams making bids, Paik Seung-ho acknowledges that he believed he would depart after relegation.
As the final stretch draws closer, Birmingham City is sweeping to the League One championship. With nine points more than Wycombe Wanderers in second place and eleven points above the play-off slots, BCFC leads the third-tier standings.
The Blues received a lot of support for their great campaign, but they deserve all the praise for their outstanding play.
The playing group saw significant changes over the summer, but certain stars remained. Midfielder Paik Seung-ho remains and is one of many players who are clearly capable of playing at a higher level. Championship sides Stoke City and Norwich City appear to agree, as the Birmingham City midfielder said he received approaches from both teams during the summer transfer window.
The South Korean star told Naver Sports that he expected to leave, with one of the two ‘Sheffield’ clubs also interested. However, Paik has no regrets about staying at BCFC. He said: “Honestly, I thought I’d leave, but the manager is really good. “I continued arguing with myself internally—’If you play in a better league, won’t you be able to make the national team?’ And the other part was ‘under this manager, can’t you genuinely improve as a player while playing the game I like and learned?’ I received offers from Sheffield, Norwich, Stoke, and other places.
“I have no regrets.” I was fortunate to be called up to the national team, and I’m now playing the type of game I’ve always wanted to play. I believe that is the greatest option. I am really delighted, and if we are promoted here, that will be the finest.”
