AFC Bournemouth into first round of National League Plate

AFC Bournemouth advanced to the first round of the FA Women’s National League Plate after an 8-0 victory over Portishead Town.

The Cherries’ great start to the season continued with a narrow 2-1 success over Worthing, a 2-1 win at Moneyfields, and a smashing 9-0 win over Maidenhead in the National League.

Their only loss this season has occurred against Moneyfields in the National League Cup determining round, where they lost 4-3 after extra time.

Victory against Portishead sets up a trip to Division One South East club London Seaward at the end of September.
Abby Jones converted a clinical penalty in the tenth minute, and Katie James hammered home after being set up by Erin Bloomfield after 19 minutes.

Jenna Markham scored from eight yards just 60 seconds later, before coming on to flick home James’ low cross in the 29th minute.

Erin Bloomfield assisted on two of the four first-half goals and scored two minutes into the second half with a strike from the edge of the box to make it 5-0.

Chloe Gilroy then scored a hat trick in half an hour.
She headed home a cross from 53rd-minute substitute Molly Gladwell after 56 minutes, then converted another Gladwell cross eight minutes later.

Four minutes from time, he completed his hat trick by avoiding the offside trap and finishing beautifully with a lofted attempt from about 20 yards.

Bournemouth Sports, Bournemouth’s other National League team, were eliminated from the National League Cup after a tight 1-0 defeat to Southampton Women.

This season, the newly promoted side has suffered three one-goal defeats, including a 1-0 loss to early league leaders Swindon Town and a 2-1 loss to Maidenhead United.

Prior to their defeat against Southampton Women, they fell 3-1 at home to Worthing.

They are now 11th in the league with one point, following a goalless draw with Portishead Town on the opening day.

AFC Bournemouth are unbeaten in second place after collecting 12 points from four games, with a goal difference of 16.
