Nottingham Forest could lose £43m star signing as Crystal Palace eye bargain £8m striker

Our verdict on the latest Premier League transfer rumours – featuring news from Man City, Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace.

Welcome to Tuesday’s round-up of all the newest (and strangest) Premier League transfer speculations – and we’ll kick off today’s digest

with news that may be of interest to Manchester City fans, but may deeply concern any Nottingham Forest fans who happen to be passing

by.

According to HITC, the Citizens are building “a detailed dossier” on newly-minted England international Morgan Gibbs-White and

keeping “close tabs” on him due to the high regard in which he is held by scouts at the Etihad. There is no information on how much he

might cost or what City is willing to spend.

Regardless of City’s interest, Forest are still desperate to keep him and are planning a fresh contract offer in the hopes of enticing him to

stay at the City Ground indefinitely. If they fail, they can console themselves with another story from the same source, which claims that

their summer transfer target, Egyptian striker Omar Marmoush, has decided he wants to move to the Premier League, which could come

in handy in January.

The 3AM Verdict: We have no doubt that City enjoys watching Gibbs-White play, but they will compile hundreds of detailed dossiers

that will never be used as a routine part of their job – the lack of financial details leads us to believe that any interest is in its early

stages and that there is nothing concrete here yet. Marmoush has also been linked with other Premier League clubs, so it’s unclear

whether Forest will be able to get him even if he wants to leave Eintracht Frankfurt.

Crystal Palace is interested in signing Real Sociedad striker Sheraldo Becker, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes. The club may have

already signed Eddie Nketiah.

The 29-year-old Suriname international has become a “important” player for Sociedad since signing in January, but his profile “fits

perfectly” with Palace’s alleged requirements, and he could be available for a fee of around €10 million (£8.4 million), more than double

what the Spanish club recently paid for him. According to the article, we could be looking at a January agreement rather than something

set aside for next summer.
The 3 a.m. verdict: To be honest, we assumed that anything printed in Fichajes should be ignored until someone else printed it, but

there is some detail here that is new to us. Becker appears to be an odd target, however, because, while his power and agility make him

an excellent hold-up man, he is not a prolific finisher, having scored only two goals in 20 appearances for his new team. A strange

rumour that we’re not sure about.

Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have shortlisted a Spanish talent.

According to Football España, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur were interested in Barcelona midfielder Fermín López during

the summer, but the 21-year-old was focused on winning Euro 2024 for his country.

The transaction “never got hot” since the player just “did not want to know” about leaving the club, and Barcelona themselves find some

different economic levers to pull – fact, they consider him as “a key piece” for the future and want to lock him down to a new contract.

The 3AM Verdict: Barcelona are in perpetual financial disarray and overspend year after year, so it’s always worth calling up about

their players because they’re bound to need to sell someone – from the tone of this report, however, we suspect that neither United nor

Spurs will be back anytime soon, but it may give us a few hints as to the type of player both teams want next season, as they’ll

undoubtedly be in the market for midfielders in the future.
