Brentford handed huge injury blow ahead of Spurs and West Ham

Thomas Frank had previously questioned the tackle on one of his key players.

Brentford will be without talisman Yoane Wissa for forthcoming Premier League games against Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham, and others after the 28-year-old sustained a catastrophic injury against Manchester City over the weekend.

The Bees’ hero opened the score at the Etihad Stadium after only 22 seconds, but the London club was eventually defeated 2-1 by the Champions, with the prolific Erling Haaland scoring twice. Wissa, who has replaced Ivan Toney, has already scored three Premier League goals this season.

In that game, Wissa was taken out before halftime due to a challenge by Mateo Kovacic, which Brentford manager Thomas Frank described as’reckless’ after full time. Frank has offered an update on Wissa’s status, and it is horrible news.

In a remark released by Brentford on social networking platform X, Frank stated, “Wissa is not good news.” It appears that the damage will last several months. It’s quite annoying. It will leave a void, but I will find a solution, and other players will step in.”

Given his impressive start to the season, this is a huge setback for Brentford. Wissa will almost probably miss forthcoming Premier League games against Spurs and the Hammers, as well as matches against Wolves, Manchester United, Ipswich Town, Fulham, and Bournemouth before the middle of September.

Wissa might return after the international break in November, based on Frank’s plan. Brentford travels to Everton on November 23. The Bees’ next Carabao Cup match is against Leyton Orient on Tuesday.
