Sky Sports presenter storms into the Celtic versus Hearts penalty argument because he can’t accept Dermot Gallagher’s response.

Referee Colin Steven had VAR in his ear, but the Sky presenter was upset.

Long-time Rob Wooton, a Sky Sports broadcaster, expressed dissatisfaction with the decision to give Celtic a penalty for handball while penalizing Hearts.

Referee Colin Steven ruled Liam Scales handled after pointing to the spot for the Jambos. However, VAR reviewed the judgment and overruled it. The Premiership winners were handed a second-half penalty after the match referee signaled for a corner and the video replay crew asked Steven to look at the monitor.

Gallagher, who observed last season that the Scottish Premiership was harder on handballs than leagues south of the border, has noticed a movement, but believes the opposite on both judgments demonstrates how difficult it is for match officials. Speaking on his monthly Sky Sports broadcast, the former grade one referee stated, “I believe this is consistent with what we discussed previously. If you look at that (Scales handball claim), it would very certainly have been a penalty, but is it? I guess not. His arm is where you would expect it to be. He seeks equilibrium. I think it’s more appropriate to drop the ball than to give a penalty.

“Is this the problem? This is the hole we dig for ourselves, sometimes as referees; in this case, he argues the arm is extended to obstruct the cross. You can observe how (Penrice) reacts. He’s attempting to get his arm in swiftly. I believe that is because his arm is extended.

But Wooton, who is typically a neutral character on the sitcom, which stars Gallagher, Sue Smith, and Stephen Warnock, couldn’t resist speaking up. He answered, “All we expect is to be consistently incorrect or right. Simply be consistent. “Why was one given?”

Warnock agreed with Wooton, claiming that Hearts star Penrice was treated unfairly.
