The head of recruitment has left the club after only arriving at the bet365 Stadium from Hull City in the summer

Lee Darnbrough, the head of recruitment for Stoke City, has been recognised for his efforts during his six-month

tenure with the team.

Darnbrough only joined the team in the summer, and StokeonTrentLive announced earlier today that he had left.

Stoke sporting director Jon Waters confirmed the announcement, saying: “We sincerely appreciate Lee’s work and

dedication while he was at Stoke City. We want the best for him in the future.

“The process to identify a new recruitment lead for the club is now underway. We will inform supporters once a new

appointment is made.”

After playing for another Championship team, Hull City, for seven years, Darnbrough joined the Potters last

summer. Stoke brought in ten players last summer and two more last month, among other things, during his time

there. Ali Al-Hamadi, who was brought in on loan from Ipswich as a possible replacement for 11-goal Cannon, is one

of them. Tom Cannon was recalled by Leicester City last month and later sold to Sheffield United.

The Potters have had a slew of head coaches after relegation in 2018, having lost head coaches Steven Schumacher

and Narcis Pelach this season before Mark Robins took over as manager.

Mark Cartwright was followed by Phil Chapple and then Alex Aldridge, while Michael O’Neill leant heavily on his

right-hand man Andy Cousins. Darnbrough’s predecessor Jared Dublin joined in 2023 but left last spring.
