Norwich City: Kellen Fisher on improving attacking output

Norwich City: Kellen Fisher on improving attacking output.

Norwich City full back Kellen Fisher claims that increasing his attacking numbers is the next frontier.

The 20-year-old has made an immediate impact this season, becoming Johannes Hoff Thorup’s first option on the right side of defence and establishing a key position for the Canaries. He has had one assist since the start of the season, crossing for Borja Sainz in City’s 2-2 draw with Preston in October last year. But Fisher is improving on that aspect of his game after making significant progress at the opposite end. “I need to try and get more assists when I’m higher up the pitch, my attacking output,” according to him. “My defensive production at the moment is satisfactory.

“If I’m playing high up the pitch, I need to effect the game differently than when I’m defending. One thing I emphasise, and Johannes agrees with, is to get something out of training every day. Fisher has had to compete with seasoned defender Jack Stacey for a starting spot, but he believes this has helped him grow. “It’s really good,” said the English youth international, speaking through official club channels. “It’s crucial to have competition in the squad. “It keeps us on top of our game and motivated to fight for your position. Jack and I have that relationship where one will not complain if the other starts. We’re both making each other better players.

“I enjoy the pressure that comes with it.” I’m really enjoying my football; I’m getting a lot more minutes, and it’s amazing to be playing for a great manager and a great squad. “It’s critical for us to be on a roll and produce results, especially away from home, like winning 1-0 and keeping a clean sheet at Vicarage Road. It is critical to continue and gain points.”
