Man City make decision on activating Liam Delap buy-back clause - sources

Football Insider has learned that Manchester City are unlikely to exercise their buy-back clause for Ipswich Town attacker Liam Delap this summer.

According to Football Insider, both Manchester United and Chelsea are interested in signing Delap during the summer transfer season.

The 22-year-old has acclimated well to the Premier League since coming last summer (2024), although Ipswich are in danger of relegation back to the Championship.

If the worst comes, Kieran McKenna’s team is expected to struggle to keep their talisman in the second division.

Man City will not compete with Manchester United and Chelsea for Liam Delap.

Despite having included a buy-back provision when Delap was sold to Ipswich, Manchester City are ready to turn down the opportunity to bring him back to the Etihad Stadium.

It is expected that City’s transfer team would focus on other aspects of the club as they rebuild.

Omar Marmoush joined in January after consistently scoring for Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga, and the club believes he can provide adequate attacking depth behind Erling Haaland in the pecking order.

Man United and Chelsea may thus be left to compete for Delap’s signature in the off-season, although they will be cautious of interest from other Premier League clubs.

This season, the England Under-21 international has scored nine goals and assisted twice in 25 outings for Ipswich across all competitions.

Silva scheduled for showdown Manchester City discussions

In January, City began rebuilding by replacing Kyle Walker with four young players: Marmoush, Nico Gonzalez, Vitor Reis, and Abdukodir Khusanov.

According to Football Insider, Bernardo Silva plans to evaluate his future with Manchester City at the conclusion of the season.

The 30-year-old midfielder will enter the last year of his contract at Etihad Stadium in June.

Kevin De Bruyne’s contract at the Etihad Stadium expires in June and he is largely expected to leave.
