Dwight Yorke, a former player for Manchester United and Aston Villa, has disclosed that he has applied

for the Sunderland position.

The 52-year-old joined the Black Cats in 2006 and played for them for the last three years of his playing

career.

In 56 appearances for the northeast club, he scored six goals.

Yorke Ladbrokes Fanzone: ‘I’ve looked out for Sunderland since I had a good experience there. Getting

them promoted and contributing, even though I was toward the end of my career, was perhaps one of my

greatest accomplishments since it altered my role as a player.

When I first arrived, I was taken aback by the size of the club, but the fan base is amazing.

After Macarthur FC won the 2022 Australia Cup Final, Yorke took over as manager of the A-League team

for six months, during which time the team won its first trophy.

The team let him go in January 2023.

Additionally, he turned in his resume to the team. Michael Beale was fired last month, leaving the

position unfilled.

If I’m being really honest, I recently turned in my resume to this club because I want the position. I’ve

spent over three years living in the area, so I know enough about Sunderland to know what the locals

want and expect from that squad.

You are able to

They ought to be challenging for the automatic slots, if not much closer to the play-off spots.

That ought to be the standard at a team like Sunderland. You know you have an amazing stadium and a

tremendous supporter base, and that Sunderland is a very tough place to go and win a game if you’re the

opponent.

“There’s a club with a good record of winning promotion, and a strong base from which to build.”

Sunderland is now 11 points behind Norwich in sixth place in the Championship, in 12th place.
