Sky Sports: Arteta believes £100m 136-goal striker will WIN Arsenal the Champions League as formal bid readied.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is said to believe that Alexander Isak is the missing piece for the Gunners to make a real impact in the Champions League, with the north London club’s view of the Sweden international striker being revealed as Newcastle United star’s stance on a potential exit. Isak has evolved into one of the top attackers in the Premier League during his time at Newcastle, repaying every cent of the £63 million transfer fee paid by the Premier League side to Real Sociedad to get him in the summer of 2022. The 25-year-old has scored 54 goals and provided nine assists in 95 matches across all competitions for the Magpies.with his total tally in his career standing at 136 goals in 310 matches so far. Isak has given 28 assists in those games as well.
Fraser Fletcher, TEAMtalk’s transfer correspondent, has long said that Isak is Arsenal boss Arteta’s dream signing. The Gunners are expected to try to recruit the Sweden international during the summer transfer window, but Newcastle intend to hold talks with the striker near the conclusion of the season to persuade him to extend his stay at St James’ Park. According to Fichajes, Arteta feels Isak has the potential to transform Arsenal into a significant player in the Champions League and even win it. Arsenal, which has never won the Champions League, is supposedly the club most interested in Isak.
The Gunners, who are seeking to win the Premier League title this season, are looking to add a proven striker to their roster. Arsenal apparently sees Isak “as the perfect complement to raise the team’s competitive level and compete head-to-head with the European giants”. Fichajes stated that the Newcastle board is aware of Arsenal’s interest in Isak. The Magpies, who are chasing the Premier League top four this season, will not let Isak go cheaply and will seek at least €120 million (£100 million / £125 million).
Arsenal is closely monitoring Isak’s situation and is considering making a formal bid, according to the report. Ben Jacobs, TEAMtalk’s transfer correspondent, revealed Arsenal’s interest in Isak on January 31. According to Jacobs, the striker is a “dream target” for Arsenal, but Newcastle are certain that he will stay with the club in the long run. We understand that Isak enjoys his time at Newcastle and has no plans to leave St James’ Park soon, The striker is focused on his job of scoring goals and pushing Eddie Howe’s side into the Premier League top four this season.
Latest Arsenal news: Sesko boost, Zubimendi competition
Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has commented on Arsenal’s interest in Isak. The former Liverpool defender does not believe the Gunners will be able to sign him in the summer transfer window. Carragher stated on The Overlap: “You’ve heard of Isak. There’s a lot of discussion concerning Isak. ‘There is a notion that Arsenal will sign him or that they must sign him. As an Arsenal supporter, do you believe that is realistic? “He has three years left on his deal. Liverpool are also looking for a centre-forward, but there is no talk of signing him. “So I’m not sure where all the speculation about Arsenal buying Isak is coming from. Liverpool need one as well, and if they win the league and Isak was going to leave, surely you pick the team who wins the league.
“I don’t get it. Isn’t that unrealistic for Arsenal? Are Arsenal paying £130 million for him? Arsenal are also interested in Benjamin Sesko, and a recent rumour claims that the 21-year-old RB Leipzig attacker would prefer to move to the Emirates Stadium over Manchester United. Manchester United is hunting for a striker and likes Sesko, as do Chelsea, but the youngster prefers Arsenal. Meanwhile, TEAMtalk’s transfer journalist Fraser Fletcher has revealed that Arsenal are in risk of losing Martin Zubimendi to Real Madrid. While Arsenal are attempting to strike a pre-agreement with the midfielder and want to trigger his £51 million release clause, Madrid have surged into the race for the Real Sociedad stat.
