Ref Watch – Millers v Reading
Thomas Parsons of Greater Manchester will officiate Rotherham United’s match against Reading on Saturday when they visit the Madejski Stadium.
Before moving up through the Manchester Leagues, Thomas started off as a referee in the Tameside region of Manchester when he was fourteen years old. At the beginning of the 2022–2023 season, he was promoted from the National League to the EFL.
Thomas has been in the middle for a Millers game twice, the first occasion being during a Carabao Cup match against Morecambe at New York Stadium in August 2023. Josh Kayode equalized fifteen minutes after the visitors took the lead twenty-two minutes earlier. The Millers won four-two after the game ended one-all and went to penalties. Fred Onyedinma of Rotherham was the only person to receive yellow that evening.
Thomas has issued 123 yellow cards and four red cards in the twenty-four games he has overseen this season. Stuart Butler and Sean Rothwell will run the line on Saturday, while Sam Purkiss will serve as the fourth official.
