“We must stay awake” – Daniel Farke issues Leeds United warning despite 4-0 Watford win

Following Leeds United’s 4-0 victory over Watford on Tuesday, manager Daniel Farke has advised his players not to become complacent.

The Whites led by three goals at halftime thanks to Dan James’ double and Manor Solomon’s score, with Joel Piroe adding the final touch shortly after the hour mark.

The Hornets have had a strong record at Vicarage Road, winning nine out of 16 games this season. However, Tom Cleverley’s team was defeated by Leeds.

So, on a night when they moved three points closer to the Premier League, it appears like the only thing standing between them and the promised land is themselves.

Leeds’ unbeaten record in the Championship now stands at 14 games, dating back to a 2-0 win over Derby County on December 7.

Farke’s team leads the second division in goals scored with 66, averaging 2.1 per match (FotMob).

The team’s defence is among the best in the division, conceding only 19 goals in 32 games, averaging 0.6 goals per match (FotMob data).

Leeds appear to have all the ingredients to welcome Premier League football back to Elland Road next season, with strong performance at both ends of the pitch and a 61.3 percent average possession rate (per FotMob).

However, Farke’s’stay switched on’ reminder is well-timed, as the 48-year-old is aware of the magnitude of the upcoming games.

Leeds’ next three Championship games begin at home against Sunderland on Monday night, followed by a trip to Bramall Lane to face automatic promotion contenders Sheffield United the following Monday, before returning to West Yorkshire to host play-off chasing West Brom on March 1.

If the Whites get maximum points from these three games, they could have one foot in the top tier, which is why Farke’s demand for focus must be heard by his players.
