Everton accept Thelwell signing hasn’t worked out at Goodison Park

The Athletic reports that Everton has conceded that Kevin Thelwell’s acquisition of Neal Maupay hasn’t been a success at Goodison Park.

On Wednesday, March 13, the online news source stated on its website that although the 27-year-old has proven himself while on loan at Brentford this season, the Toffees have decided he is not a good fit for him.

It also stated that the French front was brought in to play as Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s foil, but the England international’s injury issues made him play as a loan striker.

Is Neal Maupay going to be an Everton player again?

Maupay is still very much an Everton player, but after his terrible experience at Goodison, it seems very improbable that he will ever play for the team again. After spending £15 million to leave Brighton in 2022, the attacker has only scored once in 32 appearances before being sent on loan to Brentford. But with the Bees, he has found his scoring form again, tallying eight goals in 25 appearances this season—six of which have come in just this calendar year.

Thomas Frank could sign Neal Maupay permanently at Brentford from Everton

Although manager Thomas Frank recently stated that a decision will be made at the end of the season, it is unclear exactly what the West London club will stand on the Frenchman come summertime.

But regardless of what transpires over the next several months, it’s difficult to see him lining up at Goodison next season, as he’s not the most popular figure among Toffees supporters after his troubles on Merseyside.
