Saints at Rams: Our staff makes its predictions for Thursday night’s game at SoFi Stadium

The New Orleans Saints make the long trip to the west coast to play the Los Angeles Rams in a game between 7-7 teams.

Our staff breaks down how they see Thursday night’s game playing out.

Rams 27, Saints 23: Although both teams are vying for a spot in the playoffs, the Rams are in a better position due to their

home game and the Saints’ short week of cross-country travel. The Rams are in better shape than they have been in weeks and

have won four of their previous five games. Having just had his finest game as a Saint, Derek Carr will need to have his best

game of the year if the Saints are to pull off the upset.

Luke Johnson (Season record: 11-3)

Rams 30, Saints 28: There are several positive aspects of the Saints’ recent performance, which includes them improving

their offensive red zone problems and playing two of their best defensive games in the previous two weeks. However, the Rams

are a more formidable opponent, and the Saints haven’t yet proven they can defeat a squad of this caliber.

Rod Walker (Season record: 11-3)

Rams 24, Saints 17: It’s not ideal to play a game on a Sunday and then have to travel nearly 1,900 miles on a Thursday to

play the Rams and their loaded wide corps. The last four games have seen the Rams score 33 points on average.

They will barely score enough to win against the Saints, but they won’t score that many.

Saints 27, Rams 24: For all of the reasons mentioned above, including the fact that the Saints have two important division

games coming up, I was ready to choose against them. A trip to the West Coast over a short week is surefire to result in a

lackluster performance. However, I also think the New Orleans attack is finally clicking, and the Los Angeles defense is porous.

There’s a sense of urgency in the Saints’ performance that might lead to an unexpected shootout victory.

Matthew Paras (Season record: 4-2) New Saints beat writer

Rams 23, Saints 20:Both of our guesses are valid. Although I chose the Rams, I wouldn’t be stunned if you told me the Saints

will triumph. Even though the Saints have held up in pass protection the past few games, Aaron Donald may easily change that,

giving the powerful Rams offense the advantage.
