Driver swerves police after ‘terrifying’ North Watford chase

Officers are still pursuing a rogue driver who crashed into a police vehicle and set off a “harrowing” pursuit through
the streets of North Watford.

“Need to have a helicopter and a film crew!” a resident wrote in an internet post after witnessing the pursuit in St.

Albans Road on Monday night (September 9).

In the approximate area of Asda, the witness reported hearing a screech and then three unmarked cars on Fuller

Road, followed by a fourth on St Albans Road, before a marked car passed a minute later. Now it’s all over too soon.
but where to!?
“At approximately 5:20 p.m. on Monday, officers on proactive patrol in Watford spotted a red/orange Nissan
Qashqai that was suspected of being on cloned plates,” Herts Police said this morning.
According to Herts Police, vehicle cloning is when a criminal uses the license plate of another car to conceal their
identify in order to commit crimes or avoid getting citations.

“A pursuit was permitted after they tried to halt the car on Leggatts Way but it was unsuccessful. A police car was

damaged during the incident after the Nissan struck it,” the official continued.

“At this time, the driver and vehicle are still unaccounted for.”
