Tommy Doyle, a former Sheffield United star, has apparently been targeted by Sunderland as a transfer target.
The 23-year-old was on loan at Bramall Lane during the 2022–2023 season, where he was instrumental in the Blades’ promotion to the Premier League.
In the summer of 2023, Manchester City let Doyle go once more, although they did not approve of another stay in South Yorkshire.
Instead, he went on loan to Molineux to join Wolverhampton Wanderers before making the move permanent.
However, the former England youth star has only been given three Premier League starts this season.
During the winter transfer window, he was linked to a return to Sheffield United; however, Doyle remained in the Midlands as the deadline passed.
Reporter Alan Nixon claims on his Patreon page that Sunderland, a team vying for promotion in the Championship, is now interested in the midfield player.
The Black Cats are allegedly anticipating bids for Doyle in the summer as a long-term replacement for Jobe Bellingham.
One of the EFL’s most coveted prospects is Bellingham, the younger brother of Jude, a star for Real Madrid and England.
Doyle would surely be regarded as a coup for any Championship club, even though his ceiling is perhaps not as high.
According to the source, the midfielder’s future at Wolves is uncertain, and he might be available at the end of the current campaign.
