Josh Sargent feeling fit and ready to make up for lost time.
Josh Sargent is feeling fit and eager to make up for missed time at Norwich City, which might cause problems for Championship defenders.
The American international has returned to action after missing 14 league matches due to groin surgery in November. Norwich are looking for his goals to propel them to the play-offs.
Despite a tough day against Derby on Saturday, Sargent scored his fourth goal in three games.
Johannes Hoff Thorup has carefully restricted Sargent’s minutes since his comeback, but following his first full 90 minutes, the striker feels ready to be released as the Championship approaches the final stretch.
“Pretty crisp. My legs are still getting there, but I’m feeling fine. That was my first 90 today, so I believe it’s been a nice development, and we’ve done a great job.
“I want to play as much as possible, yet it’s satisfying to finish a game. Either way, I’m feeling great and believe I’m in a terrific position,” Sargent said.
“I could have played more minutes faster, but overall, it’s been a positive experience.”
“It is always irritating. Being hurt is the worst thing. You can’t aid the team from the sidelines, but you can dig in and hope to hit the ground running when you return. I believe I have done so.
“I can’t speak for other people, but receiving injured is like coming back. Will I be as effective? Am I going to be as powerful, etc.? Scoring goals boosts confidence significantly.
Sargent has utilized his most recent break to spend time with his young family and restore his batteries following a rigorous schedule in 2024.
“I think it’s important when you get injured as well to almost take a step back, take a deep breath, enjoy time with family,” Sargent told the crowd.
“But it’s a demanding job. You do it all the time. I went directly from the season to Copa America, then back into the season. It has just been a lot. I was mostly focused on spending quality time with my family.
